APPEAL: IGGY and the STOOGES Gear STOLEN

Iggy and the Stooges were in Montreal as Osheaga Music & Art Festival headliners. All equipment was stolen (including Mike Watt's 1963 gibson eb-3 "the little bass", above) from their van outside the hotel at which they were staying. all equipment was in a rented penske 15 foot yellow truck
with u.s. (michigan) license plate number AC46493
and the theft had to have happened in the morning,
between 6:30 and 7:30 am

One of my favorite grant-and-member-supported LA organizations brings its august showcase back to the Schindler House in West Hollywood. I am hoping that I'll be in time to catch this month's show because it's sure to please. fingers crossed. Here's the description from [sassas]: Jozef van Wissem probably plays and composes for the most unlikely instruments in the world of contemporary improvised music: the Renaissance and Baroque lute. He has accomplished the strange feat of bridging the idiom of seventeenth century lute literature and twenty-first century free improv of the silent type. Although Van Wissem uses subtle electronic sound manipulation, he has largely stayed faithful to the particular timbre, resonance and playing technique of the lute. ---- The Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound (SASSAS) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves as a catalyst for the creation, presentation, and recognition of experimental art and sound practices in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Bjork and Antony Hegarty have teamed up for a new single. The Antony & the Johnsons man sings on 'Dull Flame Of Desire', the latest single to be taken from the Icelandic singer's sixth studio album 'Volta', which was released in 2007. Released on September 29, the song includes lyrics taken from a translation of a poem by Fyodor Tyutchev. The pair played the song live together at Bjork's Hammersmith Apollo live shows in London last April.

Feist on record pales in comparison to Feist on stage. Witness enclosed video as evidence. That is what I'm talkin' about! Her live arrangements blow me away every time... "Sea Lion Woman" is one rockin' jam! I cannot take how amazing this Nina Simone cover becomes when Feist and her jam band take the stage. I will literally have little rhythmic bits of melodies happily buzzing around in my head long after the show's finish. So good!
